Adults are not always right.
Many adults have become lost.
Why should kids listen to adults?
Why should kids obey their parents?
Why should kids listen their teachers?
Why should kids bother with school, or this, or that?
There’s different bubbles.
The “bigger mum” had a bigger circle.
The “little child” has a smaller one.
These circles represent experience mostly, and some knowledge.
Experience, wisdom, and knowledge come in time – that’s where the difference in circles come from.
This doesn’t mean the parent is always right or knows best.
Through time – experience and learnings – people can “lose light”.
Hearts can be hurt. Trust heavily guarded. Confusion in beliefs.
Children are much closer to “purity”.
They can have insights which seem far beyond their years, through their innocence and observations.
That being said, what happens if as a parent or guardian becomes involved in a discusion with a child about “why” something should be done.
People can take these “why” questions in different ways. Some might see it as disrespectful, or overwhelming, or curious, or … It’s better if emotional responses can remain neutral – just a simple explanation.
Like in this picture, the bigger circle goes further back and forther over the green line.
The green line represents time.
Left is the past, right is the future.
What’s outside of the circle, is outside of that person’s understanding – at that present moment.
As a child, the smaller circle has not yet reached enough understanding of the future.
The future is something which is coming towards all of us. The older we get, the more we realise and learn about “the future” means.
